Open Call 2027: Translating Chile launches a new edition
DIRAC invites foreign publishing houses to participate in this new call, which aims to promote the circulation of Chilean literature across different languages and territories. Applications must be submitted by 30 June 2026 at 23:59 (Chile continental time).
The Division of Cultures, Arts, Heritage and Public Diplomacy (DIRAC) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces the 2027 call for entries for the Translating Chile programme, an initiative that supports the translation and publication of Chilean works abroad, expanding their reach to diverse audiences and cultural contexts. The call is aimed at foreign publishing houses, which may submit applications until 30 June 2026.
Since its creation in 2017, the programme has supported more than 150 literary projects in over 20 languages, covering works by Chilean authors across a wide range of genres and generations. This effort has helped position Chilean literature as a key tool for cultural dissemination, contributing to the visibility of the country’s identity, history, and diverse voices on the international stage.
The competition is open to a different genres, including poetry, fiction, essays, drama, graphic novels, and children’s and young adult literature, among others. Through this support, foreign publishers can bring Chilean literary works to new audiences, strengthening cultural exchange and dialogue between countries.
In the context of Chile’s participation as Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2027, the programme takes on particular importance as a platform to showcase national literature at one of the world’s leading publishing events.
The call closes on 30 June 2026 at 23:59 (Chile continental time).
